The Empowerment For Life foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation (EIN:61-1644782).  ELF is separate but administratively supported by Empowerment Systems. ELF is a Qualifying Charitable Organization (CQO) per Arizona tax law that offers state tax credits for donations made to ELF. One hundred percent of ELF funding is devoted to eligible charitable services for low income individuals and families in need. Empowerment Systems provides administrative support for ELF at its own expense. Tax credits are available for annual donations up to $495 for individuals and $987 for families filing jointly. A credit, unlike a tax deduction, reduces taxes withheld or owed on a dollar for dollar basis when taxes are reported in regular filings. Refunds are increased in the same manner. So taxpayers can direct their credited tax donations to ELF rather than to the state general fund for government distribution. Donations for the current year must be made by April 15, 2026. Next year's donations are due by April 15, 2027. Assistance, such as monthly payments, for taxpayers to afford cash donations is available on an individual basis.
